Active Direct Box

RADIAL presents JDV MK5

The JDV MK5 ™ is a 100% discrete direct box in class A that maintains the original negative zero feedback topology, but adds an incredible variety of features.
The new design has two inputs, each with volume controls and presence of the signal and overload LEDs, as well as a filter passes-Fully editable high to tame the excessive bottom end of resonance. The selection between the two inputs can be carried out using the AB selector on the front panel or adding an optional JR2 ™ remote control. This also allows the user to deactivate the output in the event of tool change or silence the system between the sets.
Although it is able to manage any type of signal, the JDV MK5 is mainly intended for use with low and acoustic instruments. This means that the two inputs have been optimized to manage any type of instrument, electrical or acoustic, with a particular attention to ease of transition from one tool to another without losing anything!

The input-A is equipped with Drag ™ control for load correction that allows the artist to manage the 10 K input range-Ohm up to 1-Megaohm, particularly important feature when using a bass, because it allows the artist to replicate the 'sound and touch' as if the instrument was connected directly to the amplifier. A lateral access 'MIC SELECT' activates a special Balanced TRS microphone input to use the JDV with tools that have condenser microphones. This 'Set & Forget' switch is accompanied by a 48V phantom power supply with LED indicator on the front panel. A unique safety device prevents the activation of the Phantom power supply, avoiding the package of the picks-Up When connecting the instrument to the wrong entrance. The safety device can be bypassed by changing the position of an internal jumper.
The input-B is equipped with a load selector that allows you to choose between 200 K-OHMS for use with low passive and 10-Megaohm for use with piezoelectric transducers. Elevating the impedance on a piezo extends the frequency and blunt response the transitional response for a more natural sound. Things are really exciting when you combine the two channels. A 'blend' function sideways, will allow you to combine a magnetic pickup with a piezo or mix a microphone with a pickup. The built-in phazer ™ allows you to align the two audio sources to find the weak point and provide what can only be described as the most natural sound ever produced by an electrified instrument.
The rear panel is rotten with features: in addition to the two unbalanced instrumental inputs and the balanced microphone input, a thru is expected-Put to power an amplifier on stage. This thru-PUT is accompanied by a side switch that can introduce an insulation transformer in the signal path that should detect ground loops. Furthermore, a dedicated tuner output was included to provide the artist a constant visual feedback even when the JDV MK5 is deactivated.
The XLR balanced output is equipped with the reversal of 180 ° polarity to align the phase between a PA system and the stage amplifier or help eliminate hot spots on stage that otherwise could cause feedback. A ground control-Lift will reduce the buzzers and the sounds on the stage caused by mass loops while a transformer can be activated in the XLR signal path to provide 100% isolation. During recording, the technician can choose between direct or isolated outputs or elevate the line level of the output to a professional quality of + 4dB fully balanced to power a recorder without having to pass the signal through an external preamplifier.
